About us

inkle: the who, where and what

inkle is a Cambridge-based start-up founded on eleven years combined experience in the video-game industry. Our founders, Joseph Humfrey and Jon Ingold, have worked on every major platform there is for digital media, from Xbox and Playstation to iPad and Kindle; making games and interactive stories about every topic, from cooking to go-kart racing, from Victorian magicians to telepathic Martians.

Cambridge is very pretty, and full of boffins (like us).

We’ve worked on 2D platformers, 3D adventure games, text-based interactive fiction and web-based tools. We have strong visual design and writing skills, and can code for all platforms across the board, including iOS apps, web technologies, and ePub.

We are uniquely positioned to cover all aspects of developing digital content – from game mechanics, to user interface design, through graphic design, writing and visual asset creation.

As inkle, our focus is on making interactive stories that are easy to play and beautiful to read on modern tablet devices. We want to bring non-linear storytelling to the mainstream.
